Mailchimp’s tone of voice guidelines are considered a great example by the industry for good reason:

  • They’re easy to read. Most tone of voice guidelines are (weirdly) not written in said TOV, but these are. That makes them feel much more approachable.

  • There’s loads of detail on what to do across different channels, with sections including “Writing email newsletters”.

  • There’s a big focus on inclusivity in the language used, including a section on accessibility.

  • There are specific examples for different channels, showing how to adapt the voice across various touchpoints.
